Abstract

A five-days old newborn infant who complain about deformity of the right elbow immediate after labor admitted to our hospital. After direct roentgenographic examination definite diagnosis was obtained by ultrasonography. Closed reduction under general anaesthesia was performed after diagnosis of Salter-Harris type-1 fracture of distal humeral epiphysis. Full range of motion and good remodeling was observed during the follow up examinations. The injuries of distal humeral epiphysis in newborn infants are sometimes misdiognosed as elbow dislocation. This can be exposed patient to the forced reduction maneuvers. Ultrasonographic examination can prevent these applications by achived definite diagnosis.
