Abstract

Objectives: Rotator cuff disorders are the main cause of the shoulder pain and limited range of motion. The aim of this study is to show the functional results of the patients who had subacromial decompression and mini-open repair.
Patients and methods: 29 patients, average age 59.4 (44-70), 10 male and 19 female had miniopen rotator cuff repair. Before repair, all patients had arthroscopic subacromial decompression. In 9 patients (%31) 1cm, in 10 patients (%35) 2 cm, in 6 patients (%21) 3 cm, in 4 patients 4 cm fullthickness tear were detected. Anchor and transosseous methods were used for repair.
Results: The average follow-up period was 19 months (6-40 months). The preoperative and postoperative Constant shoulder scores were 54 (40-67) and 86 (72-96) respectively. At follow-up, 25 patients (86%) were rated as excellent or good, 4 patients (14%) were rated as fair, and none was rated as poor.
Discussion: Mini-open rotator cuff repair method has so many advantages. In our study, we showed that this method had low morbidity, less perioperative pain and accelerated rehabilitation and with arthroscopy, the other intraarticular pathologies could be detected.
