Abstract

Traumatic hip dislocations occurring in childhood account for 5% of all traumatic dislocations of the hip. Two children (ages 7 and 8 years) presented with severe pain and limitation of movement in the left hip following fall from height. Physical examination showed impaired flexion, adduction, and internal rotation. Posterior hip dislocation was reduced via the Bigelow’s maneuver in both patients. Following reduction, the patients were discharged with a hip spica cast and skin traction, respectively. During a follow-up period of 18 and 24 months, respectively, both patients had normal hip movements and radiographic findings.
