Abstract

Introduction: In this study, we eveluate our humeral replacement prosthesis for 3-4 part fractures and fracture-dislocations. Materials and
Methods: Between 1995-1999 we use 13 humeral rosthesis in these patients. The mean age of the patients was 61.5 and the avarage follow-up time was 18 months.
Results: They were reveluated according to Compito's functional eveluation criterias. Only one of the patients have had seconder hemiartroplasty who have failed open reduction, the others were the primer hemiartroplasty. The results of the postoperative evaluations were exellent in 1 (%7.7), satisfactory in 8 (%61.5), unsatisfactory in 4 (%30.8) of the patients.
Discussion: If the patients are reliable, in proximal humeral unstable fracture and fracture-dislocation; humeral hemiartroplasty have better functional outcome and patients have lower compliance of pain then open reduction. In order to obtain better results; operation must be done immiedeatly, improve the surgey experience and patient adaptation for rehabilitation.
