Abstract

We investigated the role of cemented and noncemented components in femoral intramedullary and knee intraarticular pressure changes during hip arthoplasty. We investigated the intramedullary pressure changes formed during hip arthroplasty in 8 hips of 4 dogs. The cemented protheses were inserted to the right and the noncemented protheses to the left hip. Each dog's femoral intramedullary pressure and intraarticular pressure of the knee was measured. During the implantation of cemented protheses we observed significant increase of intramedullary pressure, but we recorded less values and shorter pressure period when the noncemented protheses were inserted.
